[ASA] Congratulations to Dr John O'Sullivan, winner of a European Inventor Award 2012

Dear ASA members,
I am pleased to bring to your attention that ASA member Dr John O'Sullivan, together with his CSIRO colleagues Dr Terry Percival, Mr Diet Ostry, Mr Graham Daniels and Mr John Deane, were named as the winners of the ‘Non-European countries’ category of the annual European Inventor Award 2012 for the patented WLAN technology. The winners were announced on 14 June 2012 at an awards ceremony in Copenahgan.
John's remarkable achievements in astronomy and wireless technologies are now at work in millions of WiFi networks across the world.
Among other accolades, John has the distinction of having received the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering Clunies Ross Award in 2010, Prime Minister's Prize for Science and CSIRO Chairman's Medal in 2009, CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement in 2000, University of Sydney Medal in 1969 and an honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Sydney in May 2012.
