Postgraduate Scholarship in Veterinary Science

A full-time scholarship is being offered for a research project leading
to a PhD; the project will investigate the prevalence and importance of
hookworm infection in Australian sea lions in South Australia and will
involve veterinary pathology and parasitological investigations;
applicants should have an Honours 1 degree or equivalent preferably in
Veterinary Science; international students can apply however the
scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international
students; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Solid State and Materials Chemistry


A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Chemistry; the project is to prepare potentially multiferroric
perovskite oxides materials and to structurally characterise these using
X-ray and neutron diffraction; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; applicants must
have an Honours degree in Chemistry; $22,500pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Research Award (Industry) on Developing New
Multifunctional Layered Particles

This scholarship and will provide support on a full-time basis for a
research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project
is to develop new multifunction layered particles by building and using
novel modular food processing systems; applicants should have an Honours
1 or 2A degree in chemical engineering or chemical process engineering;
international students can apply however the scholarship does not cover
any tuition fees payable by international students; $26,669pa; up to
three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Human Nutrition

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidature to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
Nutrition; the project is to investigate the effect of 2 different diets
on the expression of the FTO gene; applicants must have a Masters degree
in Nutrition and Dietetics; $22,500pa; for one year. Closing Date:  5
February 2010

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Retroviral Invasion of the
Koala Genome

This scholarship will provide support on a full-time basis for a
research project leading to a PhD; this project is to investigate the
effects of KoRV infection on the immune function of koalas and its
potential role in disease airing from immune-suppression; applicants
should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in Veterinary Science or a
relevant Biological Science; international students can apply however
the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international
students; $26,669pa; up to three years. 

Closing Date:  1 March 2010

 

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Sound Practice: Supporting
Sustainable Careers in Orchestral Musicians through Occupational Health
and Safety Initiatives

One full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the
project looks at professional musicians with the aim of identifying
injury risk factors and predictors of injury, to trial targeted
interventions designed to better manage and prevent injury, and to
profile professional musician psychological and physical health;
applicants must have and Honours 1 or equivalent in an appropriate
discipline; international students can apply however the scholarship
does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students;
$26,669pa; up to three years.

JW and ICM Roderick Scholarship

A JW and ICM Roderick Scholarship is available for a suitably qualified
student undertake full time research leading to a PhD degree; the
project looks at studying and modelling the mechanical behaviour of
hexagonal materials during complex loadings; applicants must have an
Honours degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Science; International
students can apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees;
separate tuition fees scholarships may be provided for international
students from the School of Civil Engineering; $22,500pa; up to three
years.

The Heart Foundation (HF) offers Travel Grants to researchers working in
the area of cardiovascular disease or related areas; travel grants are
open to Australian citizens or permanent residents; applicants must be
based in Australia.
