Dear SydneyMS users,

Amanda Souza, from Thermo, will be giving a seminar on what their approach to discovery metabolomics can deliver. This seminar will be particularly useful if you are not attending the Lorne Proteomics meeting, which this year has a whole day dedicated to metabolomics.

Please reply if you would like to attended so I can make sure we have a room large enough for everyone.

When: 12noon, Tuesday 12th Feb

Where: Level 4 large meeting room (40.03), Charles Perkins Centre.

Title: Leading untargeted metabolomics forward from the Orbitrap perspective.

Abstract: Untargeted metabolomics data requires high resolution accurate mass spectrometry for detecting and annotating unknown compounds in complex matrices. Orbitrap technology provides high quality data for high quality results for all sample types. Leading Thermo Scientific(tm) software accelerates data analysis to find real differences that matter offering a streamlined workflow.

Speaker: Amanda Souza

Biography: Ms. Amanda Souza is the Metabolomics Program Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific in the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division. Her primary focus in this role is to address the needs of metabolomics and lipidomics researchers through mass spectrometry-based products. Prior to her marketing role, Amanda provided field support to end users covering MS hardware and software technical assistance and guidance on metabolomics applications. Before joining TFS, Amanda was a member of the Metabolite Profiling Platform at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. There she developed LC-MS methods for targeted and non-targeted metabolomics analyses on biological samples including large scale cohorts. Amanda began her work in metabolomics at Ore Pharmaceuticals, a drug development and indication discovery company focused on drug repositioning. Amanda holds a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Northeastern University.

Kind regards,

Ben
