Dear ASA Members,

For those attending the ASA Annual Science Meeting, just a reminder that
our Women in Astronomy Chapter lunch is on Wednesday 6th July 1-2pm
(with sessions returning at 2pm). At the lunch we will be making 2
announcements (!NEWS!), presenting the latest Pleiades Award winners
with their certificates and taking the opportunity to discuss broader
diversity issues in our community.

We are also organising the first Rainbow Astronomy dinner (for those who
identify as LGBTI+, allies are also welcome). This is a social event
rather than a formal discussion session. We will meet outside the main
lecture hall at 7:30pm on Monday 4th July and head off to Thai Pothong,
294 King St, Newtown. If you have strong feelings or ideas about how to
organise this event please contact JJ Eldridge
(j.eldridge at auckland.ac.nz), Dan Zucker (daniel.zucker at mq.edu.au) or
Lisa Harvey-Smith (Lisa.Harvey-Smith at csiro.au) as soon as possible.

Mentoring is important for career support and development so at the ASM
there will also be a speed-meet-a-mentor session co-organised with the
Early-Career Chapter at 6:30pm on Monday 4th July.

Please forward this around your groups as all are welcome to these
events, including those who are not yet ASA or WiA Chapter members.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Cheers,
Sarah
On behalf of the Women in Astronomer Chapter Steering Committee
