[Usyd_Classics_Events] Discontinuation of Latin at SCECGS Redlands

Dear all,

You may have heard that SCECGS Redlands (in Cremorne NSW) has decided to terminate the study of Latin. I understand from the Classical Languages Teachers Association that enrolments in the subject are not any lower, and in some cases are actually higher, than other small candidature subjects which are being allowed to continue at the school.

The discontinuation means that there will be no co-educational school on the lower north shore offering the language. The single-sex private schools including Shore, Queenwood, Wenona, and the selective schools North Sydney Boys and North Sydney Girls, all continue to teach Latin.

Please write to Redlands if you are unhappy with this decision.
