This event will no doubt be of great interest to all!
The 2024 Teaching Classical Languages Symposium
17 August | 9:00am-4:00pm
This is a hybrid event. (See below for on-campus venue.)
This is a forum for language instructors to share practice and pedagogy, as well as to connect and collaborate on teaching initiatives and successes. A particular focus this year is the impact of AI on teaching and learning classical languages. The hybrid event will be hosted by the Classics and Ancient History Department at the University of Sydney and supported by the Classical Association of NSW, CLTA, and Kudos. NESA accreditation pending.
The keynote speaker is Maxine Lewis from Auckland University.

The Zoom link will be sent out 2 days, 2 hours, and 10 minutes prior to the commencement of the event. Please check your email for the link.
Key details
Date: Friday 17 August 2024 from 9:00am-4:00pm
Venue: Face-to-face at the VGCC, with a live-virtual option via Zoom for those unable to make it to campus
Cost: Free but registration is essential. Light refreshments provided for morning tea and lunch – please indicate dietary requirements upon registration. There are also a number of food and coffee outlets on campus.
Professional Development: Completing the Teaching Classical Languages Symposium 2024 will contribute 6 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing standard descriptors 3.3.2 & 5.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
