Research Scholarships

PhD Scholarships investigating the influence of dog ownership on human health
Two PhD scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates from human health-related or veterinary disciplines.  The aim of the broader research project is to investigate the effects of dog ownership on cardio-metabolic health, psychological health and mental wellbeing, social connections, and health-related behaviours such as physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep. Applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. Only students eligible for an APA should apply. The scholarship is top-up funding to $8,000 pa, up to 3 years.

PhD Scholarship Opportunity in the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood - Focus on research into policy and implementation aspects
An opportunity exists for a full-time PhD within the stream focused on the translation of evidence into policy and practice. Possibilities include identifying options for intervention through policy mapping, understanding the components of successful programs that prevent childhood obesity, and identifying the factors necessary for scaling up programs. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.
Amount awarded: The scholarship is valued at $30,000 pa (tax exempt) up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Neurophysiology (Inclusion Body Myopathy)
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a Part 1 FRACP and Neurology Advanced Training Experience of 2 years standing, leading to an MPhil in Medicine (Neurophysiology). The project is to investigate the nerve and muscle excitability properties of inclusion body myopathy. Applicants should have an adequate knowledge as well as experience with clinical neurophysiology, with a particular interest and theoretical knowledge in nerve excitability. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. The scholarship is valued at $30,000 pa (tax exempt)

Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Research Scholarship in the Allied Health Sciences
The Menzies Foundation is looking for outstanding researchers with potential to be the next generation of leaders in Allied Health. The scholarship is valued at up to $40,000 pa tax exempt for two years. In addition, the successful applicant is eligible to apply for a further $25,000 early career grant.

The 2017 Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarship in Engineering
The Menzies Foundation is looking for outstanding engineers wanting to do postgraduate study overseas and are shaping up to be the profession's next generation of leaders.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a first class honours degree, or a Master of Engineering with a distinction average. The scholarship is valued at up to $75,000 per year. In addition the successful applicant is eligible to apply for a further $5,000 grant for sponsorship of a named lecture, conference session, symposium, presentation or workshop.

The Menzies Foundation is looking for outstanding law graduates who are shaping up to be the next generation of leaders and looking to do further postgraduate study overseas.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a first class honours degree or equivalent.  Both scholarships are valued at up to $75,000 per year. In addition the successful applicant is eligible to apply for a further $5,000 grant for sponsorship of a named lecture, conference session, symposium, presentation or workshop.
