MOVING NOTICE:

The University has established a single Scholarships Office which
consolidates the undergraduate Scholarship and Prizes Office and the
postgraduate research scholarships team, originally part of the Research
Office.  The research scholarships team is relocating to the
Scholarships Office on Level 5, Jane Foss Russell Building on Wednesday,
28 April 2010 and will continue to administer scholarship funding for
postgraduate research students. Our contact details will remain the same
apart from our new location at Level 5 and our new fax number of (02)
8628 8485.

Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Health Economics

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for one or
more full-time postgraduate scholarships leading to a PhD in Public
Health; the project looks at using health economics to strengthen ties
between evidence, policy and practice for the prevention and treatment
of chronic disease; applicants should have an Honours degree or
equivalent in economics, or postgraduate qualifications in health
economics; international students can apply however tuition fees payable
by international students are not covered by this scholarship;
$30,000pa; up to three years.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Drought, Climate Change and
Rural Adjustment: Tracking the Destinations of Exiting Farmers

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will
provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to explore
the ways farm businesses are responding to changing climatic conditions
and new water allocation regimes; applicants should have an Honours 1 or
2A degree in a relevant social science discipline; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens; $26,669 pa; up to three years

Postgraduate scholarship in cereal rust pathology and genetics (PhD)

A full-time international postgraduate scholarship is available for a
suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in agriculture
or biology to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in plant
pathology/ breeding; the project will investigate either the pathology
of cereal rust diseases and/or the genetics of rust resistance in
cereals; due to the nature of the external funding for this scholarship
female candidates, especially from eastern Africa, are encouraged to
apply; $20,500pa; up to three years.

A full-time international postgraduate scholarship is available for a
suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in agriculture
or biology to undertake research studies leading to a Master of
Agricultural Science in plant pathology/ breeding; the project will
investigate either the pathology of cereal rust diseases and/or the
genetics of rust resistance in cereals; due to the nature of the
external funding for this scholarship female candidates, especially from
eastern Africa, are encouraged to apply; $20,500pa; up to two years.

Postgraduate scholarship in cereal rust pathology and genetics (MAg)

A full-time international postgraduate scholarship is available for a
suitably qualified candidate with a good degree or honours degree in
agriculture or biology to undertake research and coursework leading to a
Master of Agriculture in plant pathology/ breeding; the research
component will investigate either the pathology of cereal rust diseases
and/or the genetics of rust resistance in cereals; some coursework units
can be undertaken in fields related to the research project, due to the
nature of the external funding for this scholarship female candidates,
especially from eastern Africa, are encouraged to apply; $20,500pa; up
to one year.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Advanced Structural Metallic
Materials

A scholarship funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant is available to
provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the project aims to apply in-situ deformation
transmission electron microscopy to quantitatively investigate the
mechanical behaviour of metallic amorphous/crystalline composites;
applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree or a Masters by
research degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical
engineering or condensed matter physics; $27,222pa; up to three years.
