National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Scholarships 2006

Open to Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents who are
currently residing in Australia (NZ citizens do not need to be residents
in Australian at the time of application); candidates must enrol for a
full-time research degree; for 1 year but renewable to 3 years subject
to satisfactory progress; $18,837 pa (standard), $24,309 pa (for nursing
or allied health professionals) or $28,014 pa (medical/dental graduates
who are registered to practise within Australia).  6 types of
scholarships are now open for applications:

 

*           NHMRC Biomedical (Dora Lush) Postgraduate Research
Scholarships

*           NHMRC Medical/Dental Postgraduate Research Scholarships 

*           NHMRC Pharmacy Practice Postgraduate Scholarships

*           NHMRC Primary Health Care Postgraduate Research Scholarships


*           NHMRC Public Health Postgraduate Research Scholarships

*           NHMRC Training Scholarships for Indigenous Health Research

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships - in
Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture

The information and application form for Gritton Scholarship was
mistakenly linked to an old version of the document.  This error has
been corrected and the document for Semester 2, 2005 is now available
from http://www.usyd.edu.au/su/reschols/scholarships/, use the New

Distribution Using Optical Fibre Sensors; Optical Fibre Technology; Law

John and Betty Casey Research Trust Scholarship

Available for Masters by Research or PhD studies in Semester 2, 05 or
Semester 1, 06; for the better development of the Pastoral Industry and
the usage of its products with particular emphasis on the improvement of
sheep, wool and cattle; priority will be given to research that is of
direct benefit to the pastoral industries on the Monaro; $23,837pa; up
to 3 years for PhD; applicants must be Australian citizens, NZ citizens
or Australian permanent residents.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) Scholarship in Instrumentation
for High Voltage Power Distribution Using Optical Fibre Sensors

Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD; a central
technical aim and theme is an optical fibre voltage sensor, for the high
voltage power distribution network; applicants should have a 1st class
Hons or upper 2nd class Hons degree with a relevant background in either
science or engineering; $24,650 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) Scholarship in Optical Fibre
Technology

Available for a research on the 'Quantification of the Remineralisation
of Enamel' project; 

applicants should have a  1st class Hons or upper 2nd class Hons degree
in Physics or a related subject with a sound knowledge of optics and
mechanics; $24,650 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Julian Small Research Grant

Open to postgraduate and undergraduate students who are undertaking
research and are involved in the study of law or industrial relations; 1
or more grants of up to $12,000; no grant will be < $4,000; assistance
for publication of any resulting research will be provided; applicants
must be enrolled at an Australian University.
