Swiss Government Scholarships 2006/2007

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Dentistry and Optical Fibre
Technology

Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the project
is to investigate techniques involving optical fibre lasers and
interferometers for use in measuring the surface mechanical properties
of natural materials; commencing Semester 2, 2005; applicant must have
an Hons 1 or 2A degree or equivalent in Dentistry; $24,650 pa; 3 years;
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) for the Investigation of the
Pathogenesis of Chlamydiosis and Cryptococcosis in Koalas

Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the project
is to explore the host-pathogen-environment relationship of the most
prevalent infective diseases in koalas; applicants should have an Hons 1
degree in veterinary science or biological sciences; $24,650 pa; 3
years; must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens.

Short-term Postgraduate Scholarship in the Psychology of Animal Learning

Open to postgraduate student enrolled in the School of Psychology to
assist in the investigation of learned flavour preferences in rats;
starting in Semester 2, 05; applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A
degree in Psychology;  $20,000; 1 year; must be citizens or permanent
residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship on Gene-environment Interaction in Myopia

Open to candidate enrolled in a PhD (Ophthalmology) for 2005; the
project is to determine whether gene-environment interaction is
occurring in the development of myopia in children; $28,014 pa; 1 year
only; applicants should hold an MBBS with good honours; must hold a
current drivers licence and have access to a vehicle; must be citizens
or permanent residents of Australia.

Centre for Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE) Postgraduate Medical
Research Scholarship  

Scholarships are available for research in respiratory and sleep
medicine that will be supervised or co-supervised by the CCRE
investigators at University of Sydney or the University of Newcastle;
preference will be given to candidates enrolled or intending to enrol in
a PhD; stipend, terms and conditions are similar to that of the NHMRC
scholarships; successful candidates are expected to apply for an NHMRC
scholarship during the 1st year of tenure of the CCRE scholarship.

Swiss Government Scholarships 2006/2007

A limited number of scholarships are available to Australian students
for postgraduate studies at a Swiss university for any academic
discipline; for 1 academic year (9 months); applicants must have a
sufficient knowledge of French, German or Italian; must be born after
1/7/1971; priority is given to younger candidates who are not yet
established in their professional life; includes monthly allowance of
CHF1,820 for postgraduate, fine arts and music students, payment of
general semester fees and medical insurance.
