Research Scholarships for Dietitians in Obesity and Early Liver Disease
Available for researchers with qualifications in nutrition and dietetics 
which is acceptable to the Dietitians Association of Australia; previous 
research experience is desirable; applicants will be required to enrol in a 
higher research degree; to contribute to large-scale longitudinal studies 
examining the impact of a lifestyle intervention programme on health 
outcomes in patients with signs of very early liver disease; $23,853 pa or 
$27,489 pa; 12 months; possibility of an extension to a total of 3 years; 
applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Medical Scholarship in Liver Disease – The Storr Liver Unit, 
Westmead Millennium Institute
Available for full-time postgraduate laboratory research into the 
pathogenesis and cell biology of liver cancer, leading to a PhD; applicants 
must have appropriate qualifications to be enrooled in a PhD (i.e. Hons or 
higher) and to commence in Semester 2, 04; $20,736 pa; 12 ponths, 
possibility of an extension to a total of 3 years; applicants must be 
citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Anthony Pierre Balthasar Scholarship for Research in Anaesthesia
Open to candidate to enrol in a full-time MSc or PhD at USYD and interested 
in pursuing basic research relevant to the discipline of anaesthesia; the 
field of study will be ‘mechanisms and cellular actions of cannabinoids and 
opioids in pain states’; approx $20,000 pa; based in the Basic Pain 
Research Lab of the Pain Mgt Research Institute at RNSH.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS) Scholarships in 
Field Robotics
Open to candidates interested in PhD research in the area of autonomous 
unmanned vehicles (AUV) design, construction, control, navigation and 
operation; applicants should have a first class hons degree in 
aeronautical/aerospace engineering, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, 
electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or related 
discipline or extensive appropriate professional experience;  $23,886 pa 
each+ overseas travel grants and other allowances.
