Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate
Award (UPA) 2005
Open to applicants with, or expect to hold, a first class honours degree or 
equivalent by the end of 2004 who wish to undertake full-time research 
Masters or PhD programs; $18,484 pa in 2004; 2 years for Masters and 3 
years for PhD; Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent

Postgraduate scholarship on Neuropathology in the Sudden Infant Death 
Syndrome (SIDS) and in Piglet Models
Open to candidate to undertake research leading to a Masters by research; 
the project involves brainstem pathology of SIDS with laboratory access to 
a piglet model to explore mechanisms; applicants should have an Hons degree 
in Science or related field; $19,760 pa; max. 2 years.

Osteoporosis Australia Research Fund (OARF) Scholarships
Open to  young medical and science graduates to undertake thesis studies 
into osteoporosis and related disorders at recognised universities and 
institutions; $20,000 pa; 1 year only, but may be renewed for a further 1 
or 2 years, subject to a further successful application and at the 
discretion of OARF.

Supplementary Scholarships in the Discipline of Economics
Up to 4 supplementary scholarships are offered to successful APA/UPA/IPRS 
applicants who will enrol in the PhD program in the Discipline of Economics 
in 2005; approx. $5,500 pa for the duration of the APA/UPA/IPRS; successful 
APA/UPA/IPRS applicants will be automatically considered for the additional 
funding and there is no need to lodge a separate application.

PhD Top-Up Scholarships in Econometrics and Business Statistics
Up to 3 top-up scholarships for outstanding students enrolling into its 
doctoral program in 2005; for students who expect to gain an APA or

1 degree or equivalent in econometrics, applied statistics, economics or 
other related discipline; up to $5,000 pa; 3 years; limited tutoring and 
research assistance work may also be available.

multi-disciplinary whole patient approach to medical problems; $5,000.

Open to junior scientists to visit the National Inst. of Health in the USA;

or a Bachelors with Hons degree, or be in the final semester of a Masters 
or a Bachelors with Hons degree; max $2,600 for travel; max. $400 for 
living allownce; 6 - 13 weeks; applicants must be citizens or permanent 
residents of Australia.
