Postgraduate Scholarship in Dermatology
Open to candidate with a medical qualification (MBBS) to undertake research 
studies leading to a M.Med in dermatology; the project is to investigate 
the mechanisms involved in immunostimulant treatment of actinic keratoses; 
applicants should have passed the FACD Part I exam; 1 year @$30,000 pa; 
applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Structure-property Relations for Starch
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in chemistry to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD in structure-property relations for 
starch; the successful candidate must have a background in starch plant 
biochemistry and/or biology, with experience in rice; $23,294 pa and may be 
renewed for up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Nitrile-based Latexes
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in chemistry or chemical 
engineering to undertake research studies (in collaboration with Ansell) 
leading to a PhD in structure-property relations for films formed from 
nitrile-based latexes made by emulsion polymerisation; $23,294 pa and may 
be renewed for up to 3 years.

Elizabeth Wunsch Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Pharmacy
Open to candidate who is eligible to enrol in, or is already enrolled in, a 
full-time higher research degree in the Faculty of Pharmacy; for both local 
and international students but the scholarship does not cover any fees 
payable by international students.  The scholarship shall be awarded on the 
basis of academic merit and research potential; $18,009 pa + a thesis 
allowance; 3 years for PhD, 2 years for Masters by research.

Research Scholarship for a Nano-Motor-Device
Open to a PhD to undertake research studies in the Nnano-Motor Device 
project; applicants should have experience in more than one of the 
following fields: Molecular biotechnology, manipulation of databases using 
computers; a good grasp of biochemistry and physiology; and evidence of 
competence in the field of biological sciences; $19,000 pa for up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Fungal Pathogenesis (Biochemistry)
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in Science to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD; the project involves the study of the 
interaction of secreted phospholipase enzymes from pathogenic fungi with 
mammalian macrophages; $18,009 pa and may be renewed for up to 2 years.

MS Australia Postgraduate Research Scholarship
Available for graduates for 2 - 3 years to undertake full time study 
towards a PhD or in some cases a Master degree; candidates must be 
registered medical graduates or appropriately qualified science graduates 
or health professionals for the purpose of carrying out research projects 
within a university or academic department of an Australian institution; 
stipend at NHMRC rate for medical and biomedical graduates + other 
allowances; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia 
who have lived in Australia continuously for 12 months before submitting 
their application.

Malaysian Australian Alumi Council (MAAC) Scholarships
Open to Australian students to study in Malaysia; a number of postgraduate 
courses are available under the MACC Scholarships Program, ranging from 
Commerce and Business Studies to Science, Engineering, Computer Science and 
Information Technology to Biotechnology and Environmental Studies; and are 
offered by reputable universities.

ABRS Bursaries for Student Travel Conference Support Awards
ABRS offers financial support to postgraduate students in Australian 
institutions to travel to a national or international conference; relevant 
to research program in systematics or taxonomy and the Aims and Objectives 
of the ABRS; applicants must be current PhD or Masters degree (incl. 
research component) in the field of Systematics or Taxonomy; applicants 
must show that a poster or oral paper presentation has been accepted by the 
organiser of the conference; applicants must be citizens or permanent 
residents of Australia; for international conference $1000 max; $500 for 
travel within Australia. Awards are granted bi-annually.
