Australian Federation of University Women Queensland (AFUWQ)  Freda Bage 
Fellowship
Open to women graduates undertaking PhD studies; tenable at any university 
or approved institution except that through which applicant obtained her 
first degree; also tenable overseas if applicant is an Australian citizen; 
one three-year fellowship valued at APA rates ($17,609 pa in 2002) tenable 
for up to three years, by September 2003.

AFUWQ  Commemorative Fellowship
Open to women graduates undertaking formal postgraduate study; tenable at 
any university or approved institution except that through which applicant 
obtained her first degree; also tenable overseas if applicant is an 
Australian citizen; valued at APA rates ($17,609 pa in 2002) tenable for 
one year by September 2003.

Australian Kidney Foundation Biomedical Research Scholarship
Open to individuals wishing to study full time for PhD or MD by undertaking 
research into the causes, prevention and treatment of disorders of the 
kidneys and urinary tract; stipend range is $25,000 to $31,000 depending on 
the qualifications of the applicant; preference given to Australian 
applicants at Australian universities although, if funds permit, support 
may also be given to overseas applicants at Australian universities or 
Australian applicants at overseas universities; applicants may take on 
part-time work if full-time student status is not compromised.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Modelling of Grinding Processes
Open to suitable qualified candidate with good honours degree in 
engineering to undertake research studies in mechanical engineering; 
project investigates the method of modelling surface grinding processes 
using a proper mathematical method such as the fuzzy method; applicants 
should have a particular interest in grinding and its associated issues 
including residual stresses and surface roughness; valued at $22,000 pa pro 
rata for six months; must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Swiss Government Scholarships 2002
Open to candidates who have sufficient knowledge of French or German as all 
courses are given in these languages; a candidate whose language 
proficiency is considered inadequate may nevertheless be granted a 
scholarship, subject to his/her attendance at a preparatory language 
course; three scholarships are being offered to Australian citizens for 
study in Switzerland for the academic year 2003-2004; one is for music/art 
and two for other disciplines; tenable for one academic year (9 months); 
valued at SFr 1820 per month for postgraduate and Art students.
