Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate
Award (UPA) 2003
Open to applicants with, or expect to hold, a first class honours degree or 
equivalent by the end of 2002 who wish to undertake full-time research 
Masters or PhD programs; $17,609 pa in 2002; 2 years for Masters and 3 
years for PhD; APA applicants must be Australian citizens or have been 
granted permanent resident status and lived in Australia continuously for 
12 months prior to 31 October 2002; Permanent residents of Australia or New 
Zealand citizens who do not satisfy the 12-month prior residency 
requirement can only apply for a UPA.  Information and application forms

Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Postgraduate Research 
Scholarships
Open to candidates for full-time postgraduate study leading to a higher 
degree by research and thesis; tenable for up to 2 years for a Master of 
Science in Agriculture or a Master of Agricultural Economics, and up to 3.5 
years for a PhD candidate; valued at $17,609 pa (2002); a maintenance 
allowance, a thesis allowance and relocation allowance are available; 
candidature must commence in February or March.

Scholarships in the Faculty of Veterinary Science
Open to full-time candidates for a higher degree, normally Doctor of 
Philosophy or Research Masters, within any section of the Faculty of 
Veterinary Science; eligibility criteria, tenure and benefits are similar 
to that of the APA; application for Faculty scholarships is automatic upon 
application for an APA/UPA; scholarships specifically for clinical research 
at the Masters level may also be available.

Scholarships in the Faculty of Medicine
Open to full-time candidates for a higher degree, normally the Doctor of 
Philosophy, in any department or research unit associated with the Faculty 
of Medicine; eligibility criteria, tenure and benefits are similar to that 
of the UPA; application for Faculty scholarships is automatic upon 
application for an APA/UPA.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Chinese Rural Economy
Open to candidate to undertake research studies leading to a Doctor of 
Philosophy; the research can be in any area related to China's rural 
economy, preferably related to China's animal husbandry industry or China's 
grains industry; 3 years at $17,609 pa; applicants should have a status 
that does not require the candidate to pay overseas student charges or 
applicants should be prepared to pay the charges themselves.

PhD Internship Programme in Economics and Policy Studies of Technical 
Change 2003
Open to PhD candidates to carry out their PhD research in Maastricht for a 
period of three months; applicants must be at an advanced stage of their 
PhD dissertation with a research topic accepted by their home university; 
language proficiency in English is essential; research topics should be 
related to Clusters, Sectoral and Regional Innovation Systems or The 
Innovation Policy Framework; covers living expenses in Maastricht, a return 
ticket, travel and accident insurance for the period of internship.
