Hi everyone,

This week's speaker in the University of Sydney Philosophy Seminar Series is Jeremy Moss (UNSW)

The title of the talk is ‘Climate harms and the just climate transition’. Here is an abstract for the talk:

The impacts of climate change, especially those caused by climate related disasters, are now all too familiar and are having a severe immediate and long-term impact on human and natural systems. In this paper I argue that standard conceptions of how climate harms are caused and who is responsible for them are inadequate. A focus on who caused the direct climate hazard has obscured the way in which people and natural systems become vulnerable to those hazards. I will argue for a broader understanding of climate harms and consider what adjustments an account of just climate transition must make to properly incorporate a broader account of climate harms.

The seminar will take place at 3:45pm on Wednesday May 13 in the Philosophy Seminar Room (N494).
