Dear colleagues,
I hope that you are well and might find this opportunity interesting.
Brian Ballsun-Stanton and I will be teaching a digital humanities winter
(southern hemisphere) school at Macquarie University, 25-28 August. The
primary focus is natural language processing of both philosophical and
non-philosophical corpora to address philosophical questions.
We have taught this winter school every year since 2022. It has led to one
PhD dissertation and several publications by participants. We would be
delighted to host a new cohort, especially Masters students, PhDs, and
early career researchers. In previous years, participants have also
included professors, people in industry, and advisors to the NSW Premier.
We presuppose no knowledge of digital humanities or ability to code. Our
approach is "no child left behind," so don't be intimidated by R or Python.
If you or someone in your orbit is interested in coming to Sydney for this
winter school, please send me an email. I have limited funding to support
the travel costs of junior colleagues.
Best wishes,
Mark Alfano
