Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share that I am hosting and co-producing a five-episode podcast series titled Rethinking South Asian Philosophy, created in collaboration with SBS Spice<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/7Yb1CyojxQT2k6n1xFZfZCxqTBd?domain=sbs.com.au>. SBS Spice is a digital platform hosted for and by South Asians, and presented by the national broadcaster SBS<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/4kqQCzvkyVCw98L15CXhOC92mPi?domain=sbs.com.au>.
The series explores a range of topics and emerging conversations in South Asian philosophy as practised and discussed both in Australia and by philosophers working in or originating from the region. It is aimed at both philosophers and a wider general audience.
Episode 1, Rethinking South Asian Philosophy: Exclusion and Diversity in Philosophy, is now available online.
Abstract
In this opening episode, I speak with Dr. Bryan Mukandi (UOW), Assoc. Prof. Karen Jones (University of Melbourne), and Dr. Helen Ngo (Deakin) about issues of diversity within Australian academic philosophy, including the underrepresentation of non-Western perspectives in our curriculum. We discuss the experiences of loneliness often reported by minority students, the valorisation of the Western philosophical canon, and broader structural patterns that contribute to the exclusion of both non-Western traditions and minority students from the discipline. We conclude the episode by considering some suggestions to bring about meaningful change.

In subsequent episodes, my guests and I explore topics including Buddhist philosophy of mind, Indian logic, the philosophy of mindfulness, perennial philosophy, non-dual traditions and Zen aesthetics, Dalit feminism, and anti-caste and anti-racist political philosophy.
Episode 2 will be released next week! I'm looking forward to sharing more soon.

Best,
Bhanuraj Kashyap
