Hi everyone,

Apologies for cross-posting.

BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making is calling for submissions to
our Collection in Ethical Issues in the application of artificial
intelligence to health and medicine.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into health and medicine is
rapidly transforming patient care, diagnostics, and treatment planning.
However, this does not come without a myriad of ethical issues and
considerations that require rigorous evaluation and careful discussion:
from questions of accountability and explainability in decision-making to
concerns over data privacy and informed consent, from data embedded bias
and health inequalities to lack of metrics and processes to evaluate
fairness.

This Collection aims to explore these complex issues, fostering a deeper
understanding of how AI can be ethically applied in medical contexts.
Continued research in this area has the potential to yield innovative
guidelines and policies that govern the ethical use of AI technologies in
healthcare. This research trajectory may pave the way for a future where AI
supports clinical decision-making in a transparent,accountable manner,
aligned with the values of modern medicine. This Collection invites
research on how to address ethical issues arising from the application of
artificial intelligence in health and medicine. We seek contributions that
explore the relation between the use of AI in medicine and medical
decision-making, transparency, patient rights, and potential bias. By
addressing such ethics-relevant considerations,we aim to facilitate the
development of guidelines and technical advancements that ensure the
responsible integration of AI technologies into clinical practice.

All manuscripts submitted to this journal, including those submitted to
collections and special issues, are assessed inline with our editorial
policies and the journal’s peer review process . Reviewers and editors are
