From jimmy.lewismartin at gmail.com Tue Nov 16 15:16:17 2021 From: jimmy.lewismartin at gmail.com (Jimmy Lewis-Martin) Date: Tue, 16 Nov 2021 15:16:17 +1100 Subject: [SydPhil] Call for Nominations: AAP Postgraduate Committee Message-ID: The Postgraduate Committee of the *Australasian Association of Philosophy* is calling for nominations for new ordinary members and a new committee convenor. An election will be held at the AGM on November 21 at the end of the Australasian Postgraduate Philosophy Conference via Zoom (5:45pm UTC+ 11 Sydney/Melbourne time). The Zoom link is: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/-0wFC4QOPEiBkvRV9HOKrVi?domain=uwa.zoom.us and the password is APPC2021. If you cannot attend the AGM but would like to nominate yourself, please email jimmy at uow.edu.au. *Convenor*: The convenor of the committee is responsible for the running of the committee (including attendance at the annual APPC conference), communication with members, organising and overseeing projects, liaising with the AAP executive, and serves as the postgraduate representative to the AAP (requiring attendance at the AAP conference). A convenor should be a postgraduate philosophy student who can dedicate approximately 2 hours per week to running the committee and participating in projects, and who is motivated to work on projects that can benefit the entire postgraduate philosophy community of Australasia. The chair is elected for a 1 year term but may serve additional terms. Outgoing convenors are also expected to serve an additional term as an ordinary member to assist the next convenor. If you wish to nominate in absentia for the position of convenor please provide a short (<300 word) statement about yourself and why you would make a good chair. *Ordinary Members*: Ordinary members are postgraduate philosophy students who are interested in engaging with projects designed to fulfil the committee's goals and participating in the committee's discussions on various issues. Members of the committee should be able to dedicate at least 2 hours a fortnight to the committee and are expected to actively participate in order to maintain their membership. The projects that members work on are quite diverse and have included: producing the postgraduate student guide, running the tender process for the annual APPC conference, developing surveys, developing ties with other professional organisations postgraduate arms, and more. Serving in either capacity is a great opportunity to help benefit the postgraduate philosophy community, make contacts in the profession, and gain valuable experience with service to the profession. A competitive election will be held if there are multiple nominations for the position of convenor. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
