*Abstract*: As many philosophers have noted, there is an intuitive link
between intentional action and control: your actions stand out from the
things that merely happen to or around you, by being under your control. In
this paper I sketch an account of agential control, inspired in part by
Anscombe’s conception of practical knowledge, or knowledge that is "the
cause of what it understands".
