You are all welcome to an event at the Philosophy seminar series at UNSW.
Speaker: Franziska Felder (University of Zurich)
Title: Being a part: the normative foundations of inclusive education
Venue: MB 209
Date and Time: 15 November 2016, 12:30
Abstract: Inclusion is arguably one of the most important values in education today. It has even been given legally binding force in states that have ratified the UN Convention for the Rights of People with Disabilities. The Convention requires an inclusive educational system at all levels. However, there is still much confusion about what inclusion means and why it is important from a moral point of view. I will argue that recognition theory can help us a long way in reconstructing and evaluating the task of inclusion.
