Dear All,

The Macquarie University Research Fellowship (MQRF) Scheme is now open
for formal Expressions of Interest (EOI).

About the Scheme:
Macquarie will offer up to ten full-time Research Fellowship positions commencing in 2017. Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis and will be fixed-term for three years. Applicants must have been awarded their PhD on or after 1 March 2013, or submit their thesis by 8 August 2016 (or make a convincing case for early career researcher status). For full details please read the EOI Funding Rules 2017 and the EOI Application Form which are available on the Research Office website http://www.mq.edu.au/research/become-a-researcher-at-macquarie/fellowships-and-funding/internal_funding/mq-research-fellowships-research-office

Faculty of Arts and Departmental Process
The MQRF scheme is extremely competitive and only about 20% of applicants who submit an Expression of Interest will be invited to submit a full application. All potential MQRF applicants must obtain the agreement of an academic sponsor and consult closely with them during the development of the EOI. Applicants should check the relevant department webpages and directly approach potential sponsors requesting their approval. Sponsors must have a research profile appropriate to the proposed Fellowship project and be associated with an area of recognised or emerging research strength within the University. Sponsors should only agree to sponsor applicants who they believe unreservedly have the capacity to undertake the MQRF. A sponsor may be named of only one Expression of Interest and subsequent Full Proposal.

The Philosophy Department has an excellent record of success in obtaining funding from this scheme, as can be seen from the list of current and past post-docs in the Department viewable at
http://www.mq.edu.au/about_us/faculties_and_departments/faculty_of_arts/department_of_philosophy/postdoctorate/mq_postdocs/

If you have an interest in applying for a Fellowship in the 2017 round, please send us the following:

1. Your current CV with list of publications, as an email attachment with your surname in the file name.
2. Provisional project title and one page (300-400 word) project description, which also highlights areas of potential connection with Departmental research strengths. Please also include this text as an attachment with your surname in the file name.

Email the CV and project description to Dr Robert Sinnerbrink (robert.sinnerbrink at mq.edu.au) by Monday May 9th, 2016.

It is recommended that you approach the Department and potential sponsors in advance of this deadline if you are interested in submitting an Expression of Interest. Please note that it is important to highlight the manner in which the proposed project will fit with the research interests and expertise of potential sponsors. There must be a good fit between the applicant’s and the sponsor’s areas of research specialisation. For this reason, potential applicants are strongly advised to review the research
profiles of potential sponsors from within the Philosophy Department. These can be viewed via the Department staff list:

Regards,
Robert
