UOW Philosophy is pleased to host a lecture by Shaun Gallagher (Memphis/UOW) on ‘Astrophenomenology’.

This talk will explore issues examined by Gallagher and colleagues in the recently published "A Neurophenomenology of Awe and Wonder: Towards a Non-Reductionist Cognitive Science" (Palgrave Macmillan 2015). This book presents a study of the various feelings of awe and wonder experienced by astronauts during space flight. It summarizes the results of two experimental, interdisciplinary studies that employ methods from neuroscience, psychology, phenomenology and simulation technology, and it argues for a new, non-reductionist approach to cognitive science.

Date: Wednesday, February 24th, 3:30pm

Location: LHA Research Hub (Building 19, room 2072), University of Wollongong main campus.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend. There will be a reception for Professor Gallagher following the talk, also held in the Research Hub. For catering purposes, please contact Patrick McGivern to register your attendance at patrickm at uow.edu.au<mailto:patrickm at uow.edu.au>
