Biography:Philip Pettit is Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and Human Values at Princeton University, and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University. He works in moral and political theory and on issues in the philosophy of mind and metaphysics.

His most recent single-authored books include Just Freedom: A Moral Compass for a Complex World (NY: W.W. Norton and Company, 2014); On the People's Terms: A Republican Theory and Model of Democracy (Cambridge, 2012) and Made with Words: Hobbes on Mind, Society and Politics (Princeton, 2008).

Forthcoming works include the 2009 Blackwell Lectures in Philosophy: Morality and its Place in Nature (Wiley Blackwell); and the 2011 Uehiro Lectures in Ethics at Oxford: What We do for Each Other: The Robust Demands of Attachment, Virtue and Respect (OUP). Philip Pettit will give the Tanner Lectures on Human Values at Berkeley in 2014-15.
