This is a reminder for:

Title: Michael Duncan
Could composite objects be identical to their parts?
The thesis known as Composition as Identity says that a whole is identical
to its (proper) parts. Although this view has a certain intuitive appeal
most metaphysicians think that it is either incoherent or obviously false.
I will argue that it is neither. The main objection to the view is as
follows: A whole is one in number whereas its parts are many. But objects
which are identical share all of their properties. So a whole cannot be
identical to its parts and Composition as Identity is false. I will outline
several possible responses to this objection. Each response leads to a
different version of the thesis, none of which is incoherent or obviously
false.
