2. ‘Objective Well-being’ [on ethical theory]. I develop an objectivist  
pluralism about
well-being: any thing is good for any one if and only if (a) it is an  
instance of that
one’s pleasure, friendship, autonomy, or achievement, and (b) its being so  
is
independent of whether it is or would be any object of any pro-attitude of  
anyone. I
also rebut influential objections, from: personal authority, giving  
pro-attitudes their
due, alienation, the idea that objectivism has no-method or no-theory or  
no-rationale,
the theory’s alleged meta-ethical implausibility, and matters of value  
weighing and
comparison. I conclude that objectivism about well-being is a live and  
serious option.
