Dear All,

Two announcements, firstly there is a seminar on NanoSIMS on Thursday 3rd May at 10am in the level 4 large meeting room of the CPC.

Space is limited, so please RSVP to: pierre-yves.corre at ametek.com<mailto:pierre-yves.corre at ametek.com>

The speaker, Philippe Saliot from Ametek will describe how secondary ion mass spectrometry, SIMS, works in general and how their NanoSIMS 50L can be used to image trace elements and isotopes at the sub-um scale in a range of samples. Applications of the technology include follow reaction path in materials and quantify metabolic activities of living species down to single cells and measure fluxes, incorporation, fixation, and exchange between cells or within tissues.

This is the second of two seminars and will focus on the biological applications. There first seminar on 2nd May will focus on the Material Science and Geoscience applications.

Secondly, a post-doc position is available in the Lambert Initiative. They are after someone with good practical skills in analysis of drugs in biological matrices using our triple quad and GC-MS, but who can also move easily into lipidomics/metabolomics on the instruments at Sydney Mass Spectrometry. Specific interest in cannabinoids an advantage, but not obligatory.

Please contact Iain McGregor for more information

Kind regards,

Ben
