Hi Barry,

Have you tried saving your excel file in an earlier version, e.g., Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls). This has worked for me in the past.

Thanks for your swift reply ... This option I have thought of but
Unfortunately I am a phd student so having to use precious funding to
purchase another software package to deal with an issue in this one I
would perfer to avoid ( due to the size of my data set over 250000
data points the free version of stata/transfer does not convert the
whole data set ) ..... If you could think of any obvious data
characteristic issues ( aside from the ones I mentioned in previous
email) which prevent limdep proper reading data I would be much
appreciated..For eg
Does limdep limit decimal places ?
The limitation of 1024 characters per line in a text file !!! How to I
figure out how many characters are in each text line ????

Many thanks for any help u can provide

Barry Quinn
