Hi all,

We're pleased to announce the release of pyGPlates 1.0.0rc1.

Note: This is a pre-release of version 1.0.0. Version 1.0.0 will be released in January 2025 and will have the same functionality. This pre-release is mainly to ensure there are no issues with the new pip support.

PyGPlates can now be installed using conda<https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda/en/latest/user-guide/index.html> or pip<https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/>. Please see the installation instructions<https://www.gplates.org/docs/pygplates/pygplates_getting_started.html> in the pyGPlates documentation.

Note: The old method of manually installing pre-compiled binaries is no longer supported (that's now handled by conda and pip). But older versions of pyGPlates can still be found on the download<https://www.gplates.org/download/> page.
