From rebekka.steffen at lm.se Tue Apr 14 21:16:21 2026 From: rebekka.steffen at lm.se (Steffen Rebekka) Date: Tue, 14 Apr 2026 11:16:21 +0000 Subject: [Geodynamics] TIGER Symposium in Geodesy 2026 - Extension of abstract and travel support deadline Message-ID: Dear colleagues (apologies for cross-posting), We would like to inform you that the deadline for submitting abstracts and applications for travel support for the TIGER Symposium in Geodesy 2026 has been extended. The new deadline is May 12th, 2026 The TIGER Symposium in Geodesy 2026 is taking place between September 28th and October 1st, 2026, in G?vle (Sweden) & online, and will gather researchers working at the interaction of geodesy and geodynamics as well as earth rotation. Several sessions will focus on crustal deformation observed by geodetic techniques, from cryospheric deformation of the solid Earth to hydrological, volcanic, and seismological processes. To submit your abstract, please visit: https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/X8_UCwV1vMfAPr8VZcVfjTJrep_?domain=geodesy.science Limited funding is available to support in-person participation in Sweden. We especially encourage applications from early career scientists (ECS), individuals with limited financial resources, and those from underrepresented countries and groups. Travel support details and application instructions are available here: https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/0PBBCxngwOf9BNMRqsvh0TybyU0?domain=geodesy.science Further information about the symposium, including registration, can be found at: https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/pVjhCyojxQT0JVX2mTQiPTxF8q9?domain=geodesy.science If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at tiger-geodesy-2026 at lm.se. Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to your submissions. Sincerely, Rebekka Steffen (on behalf of the scientific and local organizing committees) My working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm (Stockholm time), although they can occasionally be irregular. I value and respect boundaries around personal time, well-being, caregiving, and time off. Please do not feel obligated to respond to this email outside your regular working hours. The candidate must have a background in quantitative Earth science, tectonics of sedimentary basins, and/or numerical modeling of geological processes (i.e, Master or PhD in Earth Sciences). The aim of the project is to understand the stratigraphic and thermal evolution of foreland basins, focussing on the Aquitaine Basin, the retro-foreland of the Pyrenean orogen. We will use coupled thermo-mechanical - surface process models of mountain belt and foreland basin formation to evaluate the impact of the inherited extensional deformation on (i) the sediment routing systems and associated sediment volumes transported from the orogen to the basin, (ii) the stratigraphic architecture of the retro-foreland, and (iii) the thermal evolution of the retro-foreland sedimentary basin. The PhD/Post doctoral fellow will be supervised by Delphine Rouby (G?osciences Environnement Toulouse) and Ritske Huismans (University of Bergen). The PhD/Post doctoral fellow will also collaborate with Eric Lasseur (BRGM) and C?cile Robin (G?osciences Rennes). The project is funded through the PEPR-Sous Sol Bien Commun program.
