Dear Colleagues,
AGU 2023 abstract submission has opened! We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to our session before August 2nd, 2023:
DI009 - Interdisciplinary Studies of the Interplay between Surface Processes and Mantle Dynamics <https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/XwW-CROND2uGPK6p6I9rerk?domain=agu.confex.com>
Session Description:
Dynamic processes in the solid Earth are intrinsically linked with surface evolution at multiple spatial and temporal scales. Recent advancements in coupling solid Earth deformation with surface processes provide us a new framework of integrating observations and numerical models to quantify the surface-deep Earth interactions. However, fundamental aspects of their interactions remain to be addressed, such as the level and scales of coupling, data integration. In this session, we welcome contributions focusing on, but not limited to, (1) interplay between geodynamic and surface processes in different tectonic environments; (2) inversion of lithosphere and deep mantle properties from geological and geomorphological features; (3) integration of various datasets (geologic, geophysical, thermochronological, etc.) and methodologies (lab experiments, numerical modeling) to constrain the evolution of the lithosphere and deep mantle. We particularly welcome studies that involve interdisciplinary approaches, novel methods, and contributions across scales and geographic barriers.
We have two confirmed invited speakers:
Taras Gerya, ETH Zurich
Claire Mallard, The University of Sydney
Thank you for considering. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Session conveners:
Xuesong Ding (UT Austin)
Alireza Bahadori (Columbia University)
Alexander Koptev (GFZ)
Boontigan Kuhasubpasin (UCLA)
