[ASA] MSSS 2026 — Early Bird Registration Closes Soon!

[Zachary Steyn]

Dear ASA members,

Just a quick reminder that early bird registration for Mount Stromlo Student Seminars (MSSS) 2026 closes on 1st October! Register now to secure some additional mystery merch (see potential merch inspiration below).

MSSS is an annual student-run, free-to-attend conference hosted by the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) at the Australian National University. The conference brings together research students from across Australia to share their work, meet other students, and enjoy a few days of talks and social activities in an informal environment.

This year's theme is “Cosmic Conspiracies”. Alongside your research, we would love to hear about hotly contested theories and ideas in astrophysics, both historical and contemporary. Alternatively, you can venture beyond astrophysics with presentations on conspiracy theories more broadly.

MSSS 2026 will be held at the RSAA campus on Mount Stromlo from 25–27 November. There is no registration fee. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation in Canberra.

What's included?

  * 🎤 Student talks and presentations

  *   🎓 Industry career panel

  * ☕ Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea

  * 🚌 Free bus transport between ANU's main campus and Mount Stromlo

  *   🍕 Free pizza

  *   ♨️ Social BBQ

  * 🧠 Pub trivia and other social activities
