Dear all,

It is our pleasure to open expressions of interest for Mount Stromlo Student Seminars 2026!
Mount Stromlo Student Seminars (MSSS) is an annual student-run conference at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Australian National University, bringing together HDR students to present themed talks, research-related or otherwise. This is an excellent opportunity for masters and early PhD students to present their work in an informal environment, or practise for an upcoming conference.

This year's theme is Cosmic Conspiracies - alongside your research, we would love to hear about hotly contested theories in your particular area, present or historic. Presentations about conspiracy theories outside of astrophysics are also welcomed. We look forward to hearing your stories!

This year, MSSS will be held up on the RSAA campus on Mount Stromlo from Nov 25-27. The conference is free to attend, including catered morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. Students must arrange their own accommodation and travel to Canberra; for those without a car, a free bus from ANU to Mount Stromlo (near the CBD) will be arranged. Aside from accepted student talks, MSSS will feature a panel featuring staff at various stages of their career, from postdocs to faculty, to discuss various topics (TBD). The first two days of the conference will feature après-conference activities, namely a pub trivia night, and a stargazing night up on Mount Stromlo accompanied by (free) pizza.

Registration is open until the 13th of November, with talk abstracts open until 31st of October.
