Are you and your colleagues users of Data Central?

Do you have ideas on data services that could be run on your favourite data?

Are you able to assist in promoting the platform more broadly?

You can do this by becoming a member of the Data Central Users Committee!

The committee has been created to manage the increased demand for Data Central services and growth in data volume hosted in the platform. It has several key goals, outlined through its Terms of Reference. They are:

  * To sustain and enhance the impact of the Data Central Science Platform across the research community.
  * To enable engagement and build trust with the research community.
  * To provide advice to the Head of AAO Research Data & Software (RDS) on operational and software development issues relating to the components that make up the Data Central Science Platform.
  * To make recommendations to the Head of AAO RDS seeking to maximise the scientific productivity and to maintain the international competitiveness of the Science Platform, taking into account the likely resource availability.
  * To consult widely with the community, liaising where necessary with Australian research teams, to establish priorities for both operational and developmental initiatives.
  * To provide an annual written report through the head of AAO RDS for submission to the Data Central Strategic Advisory Committee.

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the committee, please send an expression of interest via email to confidential at datacentral.org.au<mailto:confidential at datacentral.org.au> with a brief CV and a few paragraphs explaining what you would bring to the committee that would support the above Terms of Reference.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 20:00 AEDT / 19:30 ACDT / 19:00 AEST / 17:00 AWST on Friday 13 March 2026.

Thanks,
Simon O’Toole
Data Central Project Scientist
