Dear colleague,
We are pleased to enclose (attach) the annual call for proposals for
International Teams hosted at the International Space Science
Institute–Beijing (ISSI-BJ), jointly with our colleagues from ISSI Bern
(Switzerland).
International Teams are usually composed of 8–12 scientists from
different institutes and nationalities, covering a wide range of
expertise; a minimum of four nationalities is required. They hold two
(or, exceptionally, three) one-week in-person meetings over a period of
12 to 18 months. International Teams work collaboratively on the
analysis and interpretation of space-based data (ground-based data or
theoretical modelling outputs may be included if they contribute
meaningfully to the project’s scientific remit), with the eventual aim
of publishing peer-reviewed journal articles. See also

Proposals are assessed by the international joint ISSI/ISSI-BJ Science
Committee on the following criteria:

/Applicants intending to submit a proposal for ISSI-BJ support are
strongly encouraged to contact the ISSI-BJ team during their proposal
development phase to benefit from targeted support. /
Whereas ISSI-BJ is co-located with the Chinese National Space Science
Center in Beijing, we are an international non-governmental organisation
focusing on the exploitation of space science data and the planning for
future space science missions. All ISSI-BJ-supported outputs are
expected to eventually appear in the open scientific literature.
In recent years, the Chinese government has significantly eased visa
requirements for many citizens from European and other Western nations.
ISSI-BJ will provide logistics support in acquiring visas for those
participants who still need them.
With an application deadline of 13 March 2026, we look forward to
welcoming your innovative proposals to conduct cutting-edge science at
ISSI-BJ in 2026 and 2027!
Best regards,
Richard de Grijs (ISSI-BJ Executive Director)
