Dear Astronomy community members,
The Australian Academy of Science’s National Committee for Astronomy is pleased to invite you to celebrate the recent launch of the Astronomy Decadal Plan 2026–2035<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/fBjpC3QNPBi2N3kPosgfwsQbDj7?domain=science.org.au>.
This plan represents a nationally coordinated vision for Australian astronomy, developed in partnership with researchers, industry and First Nations astronomers. It outlines strategic priorities to ensure Australia maintains scientific excellence, strengthens international partnerships, and invests in infrastructure, innovation, workforce and sovereign capability.
Australian astronomy continues to support key national priorities – from advancing STEM education and incorporating First Nations knowledge systems, to enabling technologies that drive growing industries.
To celebrate, we are pleased to invite you to join us in the iconic Shine Dome for a networking lunch. The event will include brief remarks from leaders in the astronomy community and offer an opportunity for networking with stakeholders from government, industry and research.
Event details:
* Date: Monday 11 August 2025
* Time: 11:30 am–1:30 pm
* Venue: The Shine Dome, Gordon Street, Canberra (in-person event)
Please register by Friday, 8 August. Registration - RSVP DETAILS<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/c0q4C4QOPEilkPVnEUxh8s4xUab?domain=aas.eventsair.com>
