Dear all,

CSIRO Space and Astronomy are searching for a Parkes Lead Scientist.

The Parkes Lead Scientist will oversee the scientific output of the iconic 64-metre Parkes radio telescope, Murriyang—the largest single-dish telescope in the southern hemisphere. With recent and upcoming upgrades including an ultra-wide-band feed and the CryoPAF, this role is central to shaping the telescope’s scientific future and supporting its user community.

They will drive high-impact research, contribute to system development and commissioning, and help steer the transition into the SKA era. Approximately 30% of their time will be dedicated to personal research. They will also coordinate observation schedules and ensure high telescope utilisation, liaising with astronomers and internal stakeholders.

The position is indefinite. The successful candidate will be based in Parkes, Sydney, or Narrabri, and will be a member of the ATNF Science program.

The deadline for applications is May 18th, 11pm AEST.
