Hi all,
A reminder for representatives of national and university facilities to please submit to our call for facility input as outlined below. We have extended the deadline to Friday 9th August 2024. Submission instructions are in the quoted email below.
This is the chance to make the case for a given facility in the 2026-2035 period, and as previously noted we will be attaching all submissions as appendices to our report. Thank you to those facilities who have submitted input so far.
As an individual, you may also submit your input to our community input form, and it will be considered in forming our final WG 2.2 report and recommendations: https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/cczsCK1DvKT8kKDYMIMfJtmedCb?domain=forms.gle
Thanks,
Vanessa

Subject: Working Group 2.2: Seeking input from national and university facilities
Hi all,
Again, thanks to those who joined our second town hall, and you can find the recording and chat for that below (see my quoted email for the previous meeting's recording):

Facility Input to WG 2.2
This email is primarily to source input from national and university facilities via our WG 2.2 Facility Input Guidelines template. This document was designed to capture key questions in a brief and systematic way from relevant facilities nationwide, and all submissions will be included as an appendix to our final WG report.
Please find the template document for submission here along with further information:
https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/ZIWTCMwGxOtxYP2LkHJijtQgUYT?domain=docs.google.com
There is an associated capabilities spreadsheet that was developed primarily within the WG Chairs alongside the Decadal Plan oversight team, in order to assist with matching science requirements of facilities to facility capabilities. Please make a copy of the template and fill it in accordingly, submitting it alongside the completed document.
The capabilities spreadsheet is here:
https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/4IZVCNLJyQUVpLZQPiRsxt1Jijl?domain=docs.google.com
Submissions will be accepted until 17:00 AWST on 31st July 2024. We encourage submitters to keep their submissions as brief as possible, focusing specifically on the questions and relevance of their specific facility to the community in the 2026-2035 period.
If you have any questions, please find us on the ASA Slack (#decadal-wg-2-2-townhall<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/3ot4COMKzVT5kYNgZUPtVt9SraP?domain=app.slack.com>) or contact Andrew Cole and myself directly.
Thanks
Vanessa and Andrew
On behalf of WG 2.2 National and University Facilities

Hi everyone,
Thanks to those who joined us for the first of our two town halls this week! For those who missed it or want to catch up on the discussion otherwise, please see here for the recordings and chat:

As noted previously, we have another town hall tomorrow, so please join us for that if you would like to weigh in on WG 2.2, or if you want to continue the conversation from today, you're very welcome to join again!
And a remind for other ways to engage with us and let us know your perspective directly:

Purpose of the town halls
The aim of these town halls is to get wide community input on 1) how national and local astronomy facilities are serving their users, 2) what capabilities will be needed during the period of the next Decadal Plan, 3) what roadblocks or challenges face the builders/managers/users of such facilities, and 4) any other items or issues you would like to bring to the attention of WG 2.2.
