[ASA] Great new opportunity within the ADACS Merit Allocation Program

We are pleased to announce a new ADACS/AAL initiative whereby additional resources will be made available within the 2024A ADACS MAP semester to be prioritised for commercial or cross-disiplinary research projects.

If you have an idea for a new or existing codebase for which ADACS effort could enable or accelerate commercial or cross-disiplinary research opportunities, then this represents an excellent opportunity.

Everyone interested is asked to submit an EoI through the normal ADACS procedures, described below in the initial call:

Do you face demanding computing challenges that you could use some advice or assistance with?

To accelerate or extend the capabilities of your research programs, the ADACS Merit Allocation Program (MAP) represents an opportunity for any Australian astronomer to secure:

  1.  Bespoke training in skills related to software development, &/or
  2.  Dedicated software development or design effort from skilled software engineers.

The deadline for Expressions of interest (EoIs) for the 2024A semester is Friday, October 6th.

If you are interested in engaging this program (for projects delivered in the first half of next year), please lodge your interest as soon as possible.

Submitting an EoI is easy.  Send a 1 page pdf to map at adacs.org.au<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/8iOuCk81N9tkvvjzWs2C43F?domain=protect-au.mimecast.com> with the following:

  1.  Project Title: a temporary working title (you can change this later)
  2.  Project Type: a clear indication of whether you are interested in training or software support;
  3.  Project Background: a brief (~1 paragraph) statement about the project's scientific background; and
  4.  Problem Statement: a concise plain-language description of the problem you are seeking help with (note: we don't seek suggested solutions or implementation details at this point).
