Dear Colleagues:
It is just 4 weeks to go until the abstract deadline for “Transients Down Under”, a conference on astrophysical transients to be held 29 January - 02 February 2024 at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. The conference is already shaping up to be quite an exciting, interesting and well-attended event! The abstract submission deadline is September 15, 2023.
Conference website: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/_KwqCwV1vMfvp4kLpsV1A1E?domain=transientsdownunder.github.io
Abstract submission is separate from registration. All participants are asked to fill the registration form even if they do not wish to present. The links to the abstract submission and registration pages can be found here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/1y3kCxngwOfLOgDJOsvycTz?domain=transientsdownunder.github.io (green buttons).
After you fill the registration page, instructions on where to find the payment page will appear.
Though remote participation will be possible, TDU will primarily be an in-person conference bringing together researchers from around the world to share ideas and recent progress in transient astronomy in observation, theory, cultural astronomy, instrumentation, follow-up telescope coordination, and data-handling/processing. We are aiming to assess all contributed talk submissions by mid-October so that interested participants will know their allocation before early-bird fees are due (see below). Those applying to present a talk who are not allocated a talk are encouraged to present a poster instead.
Fees:
It is now possible to pay the registration fees! Early-bird registration fees<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/mgjtCyojxQT7nQKNnSQk-ln?domain=trybooking.com> are as follows:
-in person students: $200 AUD
-in person non-students: $300 AUD
-online: $50 AUD
The in-person fees will increase by $50 each after the early-bird registration deadline of November 15, 2023.
Pay for registration here<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/mgjtCyojxQT7nQKNnSQk-ln?domain=trybooking.com>.
Please forward this to others who might be interested. We apologise for any duplicate mailings.
The meeting is sponsored by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav), Monash University, and the Laby Foundation.
