Dear astronomers and students,

I would like to highlight a job opportunity particularly suited to astronomy Masters or PhD graduates who are not interested in pursuing an academic path and have good hands-on/technical skills.

A position is currently open for a Hector Operations Technician who would be based at the AAT at Coonabarabran and will have their primary role as carrying out observations with the Hector instrument as well as technical work at the observatory. Hector is the new integral field spectrograph instrument for the AAT and the Hector Survey is now underway. This hire will be trained to be the lead observer and carry out technical maintenance on the instrument. It is a fixed term position with a good chance of extension for the life of the observatory.

Please bring this to the attention of your suitable recently graduated research students.

Thanks,
Julia
