We are looking to bring some new voices to the committee to create new opportunities for the membership after a couple of quiet outreach years in 2020 and 2021. We especially encourage students and ECRs to self-nominate. Nominate via email to jbondell at swin.edu.au or use this form. Nominations will be open until 20 May 2022. The National Committees of the Academy have collectively released a statement regarding the impact on Australia?s scientific and research capabilities of university restructures that have taken place over the last two years. This document highlights the broad extent and impact of these changes. The statement supports the Academy?s position statement ahead of the election and has been released in conjunction with relevant materials and Academy media events in April and May. The published statement may be found here: National Committees for Science | Australian Academy of Science and both statements are also attached for convenience. The ASA has supported the latter statement, along with many other Professional Societies. On the topic of the election, an article has been recently published on these matters in Nature: *??Dark mood?: Australian researchers lament state of science ahead of election?* *.* Best wishes to all John Lattanzio -- *I'm an LGBTIQ Ally** - Find out more at **https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/ZPvEC4QOPEiJ9orEqTWpe2K?domain=monash.edu Professor John Lattanzio President, Astronomical Society of Australia School of Physics and Astronomy Monash University Victoria 3800 AUSTRALIA Ph: +61 (0)3 9905-4428 WWW: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/ipslC6XQ4Lfo0DX7qcLjBRZ?domain=users.monash.edu.au https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/fSFVC81V0PTjPr9WETRHLH-?domain=orcid.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "May you be surrounded by friends and family, and if that is not your lot, may the blessings find you in your solitude."
