From Cormac.Reynolds at csiro.au Mon Mar 22 14:42:45 2021 From: Cormac.Reynolds at csiro.au (Reynolds, Cormac (CASS, Kensington WA)) Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2021 03:42:45 +0000 Subject: [ASA] ATUC Meeting 13-14 April 2021 Message-ID: <147a0f13691c3a6386b06bfd6291b99b609d2b60.camel@csiro.au> Dear Users of the Australia Telescope National Facility, The Australia Telescope Users Committee (ATUC) meet regularly to discuss issues that affect users of the ATNF. The next ATUC meeting is to be an online meeting held on 13 and 14 April (Tue/Wed) 2021. On Tuesday the 13th, an Open Session will be held that consists of reports and updates on the various aspects of ATNF operations. All users are welcome to attend the Open Session. An agenda, with details for remote participation, will be made available on the ATUC web page (see below) shortly. The Open Session is expected to run from approximately 11:00 - 15:30 AEST (TBC). If you, as a user (or potential user) of the ATNF, are aware of any issues that need to be raised at the next ATUC meeting, or would like to offer praise or feedback on ATNF activities, please contact any member of ATUC in advance of the meeting. Information on ATUC and how to contact its members can be found at: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/H00-Ck81N9tOnWX2yu2kl4H?domain=atnf.csiro.au (agenda, ATUC reports, responses). One of the key goals of the ODC is to build tools for the multi-wavelength investigation of a range of objects. We have developed a series of examples that use Virtual Observatory standards to bring together optical and radio imaging. Here are few examples which compare DSS R-band images with SUMSS 843MHz and RACS 888MHz data. ESO 65-1 [cid:FC7E74D0-19E1-42D5-A3C7-7826143A51E7] NGC 5189 [cid:9E8831A3-8FFD-4DC6-8ED9-DA410073FACD] NGC 6337 [cid:8E3D26BF-EE86-40F6-9075-11D33BE3D310] You can find more of our Virtual Observatory examples here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/mm9fCr81nyt8Alw41tzmzO_?domain=docs.datacentral.org.au We are also currently working on a system that uses the power of the Virtual Observatory to bring together multi-wavelength imaging and catalogues in a simple interface; this is in the early phase of testing, and we hope to share it with you soon! Wondering what the Virtual Observatory is? Have a look at our primer here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/hdiuCvl1rKi7WzOr2uzenG2?domain=docs.datacentral.org.au Optical Data Centre (ODC) is a collaboration between AAO-Macquarie University, Australian National University and NCI. It is funded under the Astronomy National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) Program via Astronomy Australia Ltd (AAL).
