Dear colleagues,

I'd like to bring your attention to the Bushfire Data Quest 2020
(https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/04G_C6XQ4LfxB2JBtphrl2?domain=fdlausnz.org) - a week-long online AI research accelerator
program (7-14 August 2020) focused on applying space data and machine
learning to key problems in bushfire remediation for Australia and New
Zealand. The Data Quest organisers are seeking to build
cross-disciplinary teams and astronomers with machine-learning
experience would be very competitive. Researchers will be paid a stipend
for the duration of their participation.

The application form at https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/RYP8C71R2NT9J5YJcW8xlc?domain=fdlausnz.org is short, but
closes next Monday. Researcher should apply in teams of 2-4 machine
learning or bushfire experts.

Participants in the academic and scientific community in Australia and
New Zealand would benefit from the program through:

  * Opportunity to work on an exciting challenge, with direct relevance
to your academic area of interest for the benefit of all humankind.
  * Access to and support from leading experts in the field drawn from
the academic, commercial, public and third sectors
  * Fast track to career enhancing work output and results
  * Track record of research teams sharing of results at leading
academic conferences within both the space science and machine
    learning arenas
  * Access to a vibrant community of practice which will is pushing the
boundaries of both space domain and machine learning which for many
people is maintained for many years after the formal close of the sprint
  * Membership of a global network of peers dedicated to application of
space data and machine learning for the good of all humankind
  * Stepping stone/route to opportunities in partner organisations and
top drawer tech and science institutions
  * Access to cutting edge tools, technology, and datasets from program
    partners and sponsors
  * Financial support during the course of the Data Quest.

More information about the program can be found in the briefing video at
https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/pJJjC81V0PTxKVgKt2UFGQ?domain=youtube.com . Please share the program
to your doctoral or post graduate student network as well as research
colleagues for potential participation.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for further information. We look
forward to your researcher’s participation in the program.

Best regard,
Cormac Purcell
On behalf of the Data Quest Organising Committee
