Dear ASA members,

A postdoctoral research associate position at ICRAR/UWA is available now. The details are below.

Regards,
Kenji Bekki

Postdoctoral Research Associate – Galaxy Evolution

About the Position
Applications are invited for a 2 year postdoctoral research position in Galaxy Evolution in the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research at the University of Western Australia. In this role you will to undertake research in galaxy evolution in dense environments. This Post-Doctoral position, under the supervision of Dr Kenji Bekki at the UWA node of ICRAR will lead numerical simulations of galaxies in groups/clusters of galaxies as part of a collaborative project with Swinburne University and the University of Queensland (UQ).
The Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) will perform cosmological and/or constrained simulations of galaxy formation and evolution and analyse the simulated galaxy properties with machine learning techniques to uncover details on the environment-driven galaxy evolution. This collaborative project is motivated by recent significant advances in research on photometric, spectroscopic, and morphological evolution of galaxies in clusters of galaxies (in particular, Fornax).

About ICRAR/UWA
ICRAR is a WA State funded high profile equal joint venture established in 2009 between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA). The Centre’s headquarters are located at UWA, with research nodes at both UWA and Curtin. ICRAR is one of the lead Australian organisations participating in the international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Project. ICRAR astronomers have access to a wide range of observational facilities (including ESO facilities, the AAT, ATCA and ASKAP), as well as to the nearby Pawsey supercomputing centre.
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is ranked amongst the top 100 universities in the world and a member of the prestigious Australian Group of Eight research-intensive universities. With an enviable research track record, vibrant campus and working environments, supported by the freedom to ‘innovate and inspire’ there is no better time to join Western Australia’s top University. Perth, Western Australia, is listed as one of the world's most liveable cities and offers an excellent ocean-side lifestyle.
