Dear ASA members,
The cancellation of APRIM in July has left a hole in the normal timing of the Australian research community being able to present their science nationally. This is particularly unfortunate for students and ECRs. It also has removed the normal vehicle the ASA would use to hold its Annual General Meeting, and to have the ASA Prize Winners be able to present their work.
As such, we are polling the community about the running of a virtual mini-Annual Science Meeting, in the same week in which APRIM was to be held (July 6). The meeting would contain the AGM and Prize Talks, and presentations will be limited to students and ECRs who submitted abstracts to speak at APRIM. The poll includes questions about attendance, as well as asking students and ECRs whether they would be interested in presenting their APRIM work. Depending on interest, an SOC may be formed to prioritise talks. We have also provided three options for timing, to fit with schedules and timezones as best as possible:

If you could please fill the poll by COB AEST Friday May 1, after which ASA Council will make decisions about the running of the event. The platform for the virtual meeting has yet to be decided.
Regards,
Cathryn
