Dear ASA members,

If you are, or you have any students that would be interested in the following position, please pass it on.

A PhD scholarship is available to work with Dr. Martin Bell at the University of Technology Sydney in the department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The student will be co-supervised by Professor Tara Murphy at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy at the University of Sydney (a short walk away from UTS). This PhD will concentrate on detecting radio counterparts from gravitational wave events and there will be a significant focus on data science. The student will analyse data from a range of radio telescopes located in Australia and they will develop cutting edge data science techniques to identify transient signals associated with cataclysmic gravitational wave events e.g. binary neutron star mergers.

Many thanks

Martin
