August 7, 2019, IAG-USP, Sa?o Paulo, Brazil This intensive, 10-day school is aimed at graduate students interested in the theory and observations of the epoch of reionization. The school features 8 courses delivered by top international experts that will cover the cosmic dark ages, neutral hydrogen experiments, the formation of the first stars, galaxies and black holes, and the evolution of the first objects to their present-day descendants. Focus lectures and tutorial sessions by local experts will highlight new instrumentation and surveys relevant to the topic, including the James Webb Space Telescope, the Giant Magellan Telescope and the Subaru Prime Focus Spectrograph, and provide students with a practical introduction to the school's topics. Thanks to a generous grant from the Sa?o Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP), the school will fully fund the participation (airfare and accommodation) of about 100 students, with a roughly 50/50 split between local and international students. Priority will be given to students enrolled in graduate programs (MSc or PhD) and that are active in one of the research areas related to the school. To apply, students should submit a brief letter of motivation, research statement, transcript of their grades, and CV, and arrange one letter of recommendation by their advisor. LSST at Asia is the first conference in what we intend to be a series, following on from the series of very successful LSST at Europe conferences held in 2013, 2016, and 2018. These meetings encouraged close interaction between LSST personnel and European scientists interested in LSST. LSST at Asia will bring together scientists in Asia, Australia and South Africa with an interest in the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope and provide them with the opportunity to interact with each other as well as with leaders of the LSST Science Collaborations and hear updates on LSST construction and data processing progress. The main objectives of the 2019 meeting are to: ? Provide an update on the status of the LSST Project ? Strengthen the network of scientists in Asia involved in various aspects of LSST ? Promote increased engagement of scientists with the LSST Science Collaborations ? Explore synergies with future astronomical facilities Child care will be provided to maximise participation by those with carer responsibilities. There will also be some funding support available to encourage attendance by early-career researchers (<5 years post PhD) and PhD students. The workshop will be focussed on interpreting surveys such as the ATCA Legacy Survey of Dense Gas in the Milky Way, the Planck Cold Cores survey and other surveys that are relevant. We will cover both data reduction and analysis pipelines, and how modelling can help interpret results. We will have a mixture of talks, practical workshops and ?Busy Days?, where we will break into groups to plan and work on papers to be produced. The workshop has a limit of 35 places with free registration (included is morning, afternoon tea and lunches, plus the conference dinner). There are still a few of these places left, so please email maria.cunningham at unsw.edu.au if you think you would be interested in attending. This will be a joint position between the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) and the Research School of Physics and Engineering (RSPE). It will be a tenure-track position that will attract a significant start-up package. The position will be open to female candidates only. The appointee will complement and engage with gravitational waves activities at RSPE and the optical follow-up of gravitational wave transients being carried out by the SkyMapper group and others at RSAA.
