[ASA] Michael Dopita (1946-2018)

Dear ASA members,

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Dopita on 22 December.

Mike was a long term fellow of the ASA and served on the ASA Council from 1993-95. Our community will remember his very significant contributions to the field, his broad knowledge across all aspects of astronomy, and his genuine interest in the research of those he met.
